Patriots shoot for 6th win
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Patriots collide with Indonesia’s Satria Muda BritAma for the third time today with the home side raring to complete a sweep of their elimination duel in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) Championship at The Arena in San Juan.
The first time the two bitter SEA Games rivals clashed, it was a thriller with the Patriots needing the late game heroics of Froilan Baguion and Warren Ybanez to eke out a 75-67 win in Jakarta two months ago.
The second one was a breeze as the Patriots came through with a big second quarter performance for a 74-56 win that gave them the solo lead after the Kuala Lumpur Dragons stunned the Singapore Slingers, 86-74.
Despite those wins, not to mention their huge home court advantage, the RP Patriots coach Louie Alas expects another close and bruising game with the Indons when they clash at 4 p.m.
The Patriots, co-owned by Harbour Centre president and CEO Mikee Romero and businessman Tony Boy Cojuangco, have won their last five games for a 6-1 record. The Indons, on the other hand, have an even 4-4 mark.
