BCC, Square golfers pace Srs Flight B
BAGUIO City , Philippines – Baguio Country Club and Square and Compass golf of Nueva Ecija turned in fine rounds to show the way in Flight B of the seniors division in the 60th Fil-Am golf invitational tournament here Sunday.
The BCC golfers flashed their familiarity with the par-61 BCC golf layout and pooled 86 points under the PAL Modified Stableford scoring system to lead the Fil division.
Bill Lawrence paced BCC with 27 points while Cesar Launa and Herr Bautista added 22 and 19 points, respectively. Benito Ang chipped in 18 points to round out scoring for the team in the five-to-play, four-to-count format tournament.
Capitol Hills Golf and Country Club stood five points behind with 81 as Ding Roman fired 23 points, Bert Roman made 21, and Manny Madayag and Pablo Roman Jr. added 19 and 18 points, respectively.
Fil-Hawaiian Golf Club had 70 points for third, including a 25 from Rick Santos, a 20 from Flor Fajilan, a 13 from Deo Halog and a 12 from Buddy Malabute.
Villa Cacho is in fourth with 67 points while Club Intramuros assembled a 66 for fifth.
Meanwhile, Maxima/Komatsu scored 106 for 212 as it kept a seven-point lead over John Hay in the Fil-Championship Flight. John Hay had 107 for a 205.
BCC posted an 18-point lead over Capitol Hills in Seniors Fil-B as it pooled a two-day total of 176 after a 90. Capitol hills made a 77 for 158 while Club Intramuros is in third with a 145 after a 79.
In the Am division over at John Hay, Square and Compass scored 76 points to post a four-point lead over Travelers Golf Club while East Loch Club took third place with 70 points.
Oligario dela Cruz led Square and Compass with 22 points while Rafael Otic, Fred Santos and Leonard Ting made 21, 19 and 14 points, respectively.
Frank Ibos shot 22 points to show the way for Travelers Golf Club, which also drew 18 points each from Totie Manalo and Rudy Mateo while Jun Caba added 14 points. – Artemio Dumlao
