MANILA, Philippines - Marty Ilagan scored a net 69 to capture the overall championship while Adones Baluyut copped the low gross plum with a 78 in the 18th Architects Golf Classic Invitational tournament at the Sta. Elena Golf Club in Laguna recently.
Ilagan hit three birdies and made 11 pars in dominating the architects division. He won a trophy, an I-Pod Touch and gift certificates from Religioso and Rudy Project for his bagging the Rey Martinez Cup.
A seven-time low gross champion, Ilagan was also enshrined to the Hall of Fame together with five-time low gross winner Gene Go during awards rites at the Manila Polo Club.
Baluyut also took home a trophy, I-Pod Touch and gift certificates from Religioso and Rudy Project for winning the Ernie Caniza Cup.
Edgar Lee shot a net 69 to top Group A with Simon Mangio and Go finishing second and third, respectively with net 71s while Nolan Timothy Quimpo carded a net 71 to rule Group B with Ed Romualdez and Efren Tayag taking the next two places with similar 72s in the event sponsored by Boysen Paints and backed by Wilcon Builders and Wilcon Supply.
Albert Nepomuceno took the Group C plum with a net 73, nipping Eymard Agbing and Buddy Segui in the countback while Boni Embuscado also scored a net 73 and nipped Vher Balderosa in the countback for the Group D crown. Dan Sabularse finished third with a net 75.
Sonia Ongkiko ruled the ladies division with a net 75 while Mikee da Jose placed second with a net 79.
