Maxima/Komatsu paces Fil-Am golf

BAGUIO City, Philippines – Florene delos Santos scored 31 points as he powered Maxima/Komatsu to an eight-point lead in the Fil-Championship Flight in the Fil-Am golf tournament at the Baguio Country Club over the weekend here.

With Antonio Hernandez, Atoy Sarmiento and Freddie Mendoza turning in 26, 25 and 24 points, respectively, under the PAL Modified Stableford scoring system, Maxima/Komatsu pooled a 106 to pace the seniors division of the annual tournament.

Eduardo Sison didn’t count with 23 points for the former three-time champion Golden Oats squad.

Camp John Hay drew 28 points from Clyde Cabreros while Fred Puckett had 26, Jong Won Park made 23 and either the 21 points from Bong Mandapat and Nelson Eslao counted for the team, which assembled a 98.

Nueva Ecija was far third with 86 points behind Peregine de Guzman’s 25, Marcelo Alfonso’s 22 and Tommy Joson’s 21, while Batangas Barakos scored 82 points for fourth. – Artemio Dumlao
