Montecillo Memorial on at Splendido

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines holds the Amalia Montecillo Memorial tournament today with over a hundred players seeing action at the Splendido Taal Golf and Country Club.

The country’s top jungolfers and alumni are participating in this special event held to commemorate the first death anniversary of Mommy Maling Montecillo whose long jungolf advocacy led to the rise of not just local, world and Asian champions but professional stars as well.

Jungolf announced that the Montecillo Cup will now become a major championship in their calendar of activities.

Jungolf president Luigi Tabuena also expressed his appreciation to the Splendido club which has accommodated the competition despite the date falling on a national holiday.

Some of the top guns of the jungolf ranks are playing, including Miguel Tabuena, Bino dela Paz, Bernice Olivarez-Ilas, Rupert Zaragosa, Philippe Palanca, Princess Superal and Pauline del Rosario.

Jungolf is also holding the Alabang Jungolf Challenge on Dec. 22 at Alabang Country Club.

Meanwhile, Eric Gallardo, who just came back from China for the Aaron Baddeley International Junior Championship, Anne Sabater, Jonah Ilagan, Karl Dela Torre, Luis Javier III, Jean, Justin, Johanna Magsino and Jorge Catalan will compete in the BMW Guam Junior Open slated Dec 18-21.
