Bonzo, Dysangco rule roller racing
MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion Marc Julius Bonzo clocked 22.60 over a simulated 500m distance to top the Professional Executive division in last weekend’s Rollapaluza Rock n Rollin Tour at the San Miguel By the Bay area of the Mall of Asia.
Bonzo, using one-wheeled bikes attached to custom rollers, won over teammate Alfie Catalan (23.45) to retain his title he won last summer over Briton Caspar Hughes. Catalan finished third.
Former national duathletes and veteran SEA Games campaigner Annaliza Dysangco duplicated Bonzo’s feat as she won her second straight roller racing crown, beating two-time SEA Games gold medalist national rider Maritess Bitbit.
Dysangco, who won her first Rollapaluza title last summer, clocked 24.63, about a second faster than Bitbit’s 24.75 seconds.
The event was presented by David’s Salon and Union Jack Tavern in partnership with the Mall of Asia and supported by Mellow 94.7, Rudy Project, Gatorade, The Edge radio, Action & Fitness, Glaxo Smith Kline, Gatsby and Javi.
