MANILA, Philippines - Two exciting sporting events are in store for watersports enthusiasts at the Subic Bay Freeport this coming long weekend.

The Subic Bay Yacht Club will host the SBYC Fun Fishing tournament on Saturday with the country’s top anglers expected to participate at the SBYC Causeway area, Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

The event, held in cooperation with Smart Infinity, is the third fishing tourney at SBYC which is expected to lure over 150 anglers.

SBYC is considered as one of the large fish sanctuaries in the region and breeding ground for vast species of tropical marine life.

Winners will receive more than P50,000 worth of prizes, including gift items from the event’s chief backers, including Chris Sports, Highlife Business Mirror and Rogue Magazine.

Categories on tap are heaviest catch, champion (total weight of qualified fish), and special prizes of heaviest catch by female and angler 10 years old below.

Also on tap is the third Andres Bonifacio Sailing Regatta also backed by Smart Infinity, with more than 10 yachts and over 150 participants in the roster.

Together with Saturday Afternoon Gentlemen’s Sailing as co-organizer and SBYC Commodore Federico Sandoval II, the event hopes to promote Subic as the prime venue for sailing events in the country.

The trophy presentation and awards night will be held at the SBYC Boathouse area on Sunday. For details, contact (047) 252-5211 or visit SBYC website at www. sbyc.com.ph.
