MANILA, Philippines - The Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines is staging the Amalia Montecillo Memorial Tournament Nov. 30 at the Splendido Taal Golf and Country Club.
The 18-hole tourney commemorating the first death anniversary of its founder is expected to draw participation from the present crop of players in the Jungolf roster as well as the alumni.
Jungolf president Luigi Tabuena said they hope to come up with an annual competition to honor the pioneering efforts of Montecillom whose long jungolf advocacy led to the rise of the country as a world jungolf power.
Through her inspiration, Tabuena said that they intend to breed as many junior players who will carry the national campaign well in the international scene.
Jungolf also announced that the Alabang Jungolf Challenge scheduled on Dec. 22 at Alabang Country Club would serve as the anniversary tournament of the organization.
Meanwhile, the Philippine delegation headed by Vannie Monsalve is leaving for Thailand Nov. 23 for the second Singha Thailand Junior World Championship slated Nov. 26-29.
With the team are Regina De Guzman, Marvi Monsalve, Jobim Carlos, Inigo Raymundo, Lois Kaye Go, Maan Legaspi and Mia Legaspi.
