Gomez, Mazon book seats in World 10
MANILA, Philippines - Former World Pool Championship runner-up Roberto Gomez and Jundel Mazon booked seats in the main draw of the World Ten-Ball Championship after ruling their respective events in Day Three of the WTBC qualifying stage at the Star Billiards Center.
Gomez, who placed second in the WPC won by Daryl Peach of Great Britain two years ago, beat compatriot Mario Tolentino, 9-7, in the finals. He also hurdled Steven Kurniawan, 7-3; Cheung Lap Kei, 7-1; Lu Shun Cheng, 7-6; Jomar de Ocampo, 7-4, and Hon Hao Xiang, 7-4.
Mazon topped his group after whipping veteran campaigner Antonio Lining in the finals, 9-3. He defeated Ting Mee Hiung of Chinese-Taipei, 7-3; RP’s William Millares, 7-1; Dang Jin Hu of China, 7-5; and Kazuo Furota of Japan, 7-2.
