DanceSport National Championship kicks off Nov 29

MANILA, Philippines - DanceSport Council of the Philippines Inc. (DSCPI) President Becky Garcia said the association will resume its 13th DSCPI National Championship on Nov. 29 to commemorate its 13th anniversary at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel.

The event, supported by the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee, was originally set Oct. 10 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, but was postponed due to typhoon Ondoy.

Over 400 participants all over the country will compete in the event sponsored by Department of Tourism, PCSO, Pagcor, NU107, Savannah Moon, Water Zone, Phil. Reclamation Authority, Studio 116, the Manila Times, Makati Shangri-La Hotel, GNK Ballroom & Café Restaurant, Caylabne Bay and Andrea Domingo.

Garcia said that they will hold the event to keep the Philippine dance athletes remain on the international scene and be identified among the participants for the development of the country’s representatives in the future world games.

Seven International Dance Sport Federation (DSF) licensed adjudicators from Netherlands, Australia, Indonesia, United Kingdom, Singapore, Romania and Spain are coming to adjudicate in the event.

Members of the DSCPI board of directors are chairman Noel Laman, sec-gen Josefina De Vera-Saliva, treasurer Gloria Alcala and directors Andy Fornier, Marvie Cojuangco-Yulo, Ambassador Antonio Lagdameo, Edward Hayco, Ruby Co, Chona Mercado, Nanette Mendoza, Emma Nieto, Rebecca Jose, Crisaldo Rendon and Victoria Alix.

Tickets are available at the DanceSport Training Center in Philsports Complex, Meralco Avenue Pasig City and at the entrance of the Rizal Ballroom of the Makati Shangri-La Hotel on November 29. For other inquiries, please call Anna or Lorien at 6350116.
