MANILA, Philippines - Pool legend Efren “Bata” Reyes and Rubilen Amit banner the talent-laden field vying for top honors in the World Mixed Doubles Classic slated Dec. 1-3 at Nuvo City in Quezon City.
Reyes and Amit will team up for RP’s first team while Francisco “Django” Bustamante will partner with Fil-Am Shanelle Loraine in the 10-ball event which will feature four other foreign teams, to be led by Mika Immonen and Shane Van Boening.
ESPN Star Sports and ABS-CBN will be airing all 12 hours of the event live throughout Asia. Dragon Promotions will be producing the inaugural event in cooperation with Puyat Sports.
“This is the first time international men and women stars of the game have been brought together to play on teams. The players are all thrilled to join because not only will it be challenging and historic, but it will be a lot of fun,” said Cindy Lee, CEO of Dragon Promotions
Van Boening, the US Open champion, will team up with US Amateur Women’s champion Amy Chen, while Hayato Hijikata and Kaori Ebe will banner Japan. Immonen, the world No. 1, will be paired with Albania’s Borana Andoni for Team Europe while Team Korea will be led by Charlie Williams and Yu Ram Cha, who finished fifth in this year’s Women’s World 10-Ball Championship.
This early, the Reyes-Amit tandem has been tipped as the team to beat with the former coming off a string of victories.
