Tough fights up in URCC 'Onslaught'

-

MANILA, Philippines - Colt 45 and long-time partner Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) will stage another blockbuster mixed martial arts event dubbed Colt 45-URCC “Onslaught” on Nov. 21 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

“Colt 45 is the biggest supporter of mixed martial arts in the country and we will continue our partnership with URCC,” said Greg Anonas, Colt 45 brand manager, in yesterday’s press conference at the Outback restaurant in Glorietta.

Alvin Aguilar, founder of URCC and a Gracie Jiu-jitsu black-belter, said he expects exciting bouts particularly in the main card featuring middleweight Filipino Caloy “Bad Boy” Baduria and Zhang Tie Quan or “The Mongolian Wolf” and bantamweight Mark “The Machine” Sangiao of Baguio and Justin “The Shocker” Cruz of Spike 22 Guam.

“The main bouts are a must-see, we expect them to be exciting since we’re hoping to regain the URCC titles,” said Aguilar.

Zhang, unbeaten in two fights and fighting out of Black Tiger China, will defend the middleweight title once held by the 28-year-old Baduria, the current light heavyweight champion who has a seven-win, three-loss and one-draw record.

Cruz, who has an impressive 13-win, three-loss mark, is out to retain his bantamweight title against the 27-year-old Sangiao, who has a 5-1 card.

The one-day event also features reigning titlist Ali Khatibi of DEFTAC and battle-scarred Andrew “The Snake” Benibe of Maic’s Gym in the featherweight clash and Roy Docyogen and a still unknown foe in pinweight.

The supporting bouts include Cebu’s Sabah Fadai-Ari Zarco of Maic’s Gym clash and the Mark Catubig of Dumaguete-Eric Kelly of Manila encounter in the featherweight class.

Also on tap is the heavyweight showdown between Marcus Valda of DEFTAC, a former SEA Games gold medal winner, and URCC reigning champion Vicente Pajaro.

Ticket prices are pegged at P300, P500 and P1,000. Tickets are available at Ticketnet (tel. no. 9115555). Globe GCash holders can now purchase tickets via Gcash.
