MANILA, Philippines - Davis Cupper Johnny Arcilla seeks his fourth straight championship in the Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) Open against a field toughened up by the presence of foreign players when the 28th staging of the annual event is held Nov. 14 at the PCA indoor clay courts, Plaza Dilao, Paco, Manila.
Bambi Zoleta, on the other hand, tries to make it back-to-back in the ladies side of the event that would also feature the comeback of former RP tennis queen Maricris Fernandez.
The event, which offers a total purse of P500,000, also serves as part of the national team’s buildup for the SEA Games in Laos in December.
“Our Davis Cup experience really boosted our confidence,” said the 29-year-old Arcilla during the launching the annual PCA Open presented by Cebuana Lhuillier.
Qualifying events for the seniors’ division is slated on Nov. 9-13, while the juniors’ event starts on Oct. 23 also at the PCA indoor shell clay courts.
