Quezon City Marathon listup extended

-

MANILA, Philippines - The registration deadline for the Quezon City International Marathon has been extended to Sunday for individual runners and Oct. 13 for group entries at the same entry fees, organizers announced yesterday.

“There will be no penalty for late registration to allow runners from Metro Manila and surrounding areas who were affected by the recent typhoon to join this grand racing event on Oct. 18,” Executive Runners Club of the Philippines chairman Art Disini, QCIM race manager, said.

Disini said registration fees for the 5K and 10K races remain pegged at P300 for each entry, P500 for the 21K run and P600 for the centerpiece 42K marathon sponsored by San Miguel Corp., Philippine STAR, New San Jose Builders, GMA Network, Puregold and Nissan Navara.

Individuals can sign up for the races held in celebration of the 70th foundation anniversary of Quezon City in Nike branches at Bonifacio High Street, Taguig, The Podium in Ortigas Center, Mall of Asia, Festival Mall in Alabang, and the Trinoma in Quezon City.

They can also register at Second Wind Running Store on 88 Maginhawa Street, Teachers Village; Quezon City Hall ground floor; and at the National Engineering Center, Juinio Hall Room 403, Agoncillo St., UP Diliman Campus, he added.

Groups can list up at the Quezon City Hall until Oct. 13 so they can take part in the blue-ribbon running competitions also backed by Shoemart, Ayala Land, Robinsons Land, Nike, Salonpas, Maxima, Manila Water, Timex, Fitness First, Nature Valley and Universidad, Disini said.

A total of P3 million in cash and special prizes will be at stake in the marathon, which has the full support of the QC government led by Mayor Sonny Belmonte.
