Mighty-HCS keeps Milo volley crown

-

MANILA, Philippines - Mighty Sports-backed Hope Christian High School proved too classy for St. Scholastica’s College, scoring a straight-set victory, 25-11, 25-14, 25-23, to retain its volleyball crown in the recent Milo Little Olympics volleyball held at the Marist School.

With Djanel Cheng masterfully orchestrating the team’s offense and Alexandra Tan delivering the lethal blows, Hope Christian-Mighty encountered stiff resistance only in the third set to underscore its supremacy in the National Capital Region.

A total of 26 teams took part in the annual event but Hope-Mighty advanced outright to quarterfinals being the defending champion.

The title was a fitting follow-up to Hope Christian-Mighty’s victory in the Toribio Cup held at the University of the East gym.

For her outstanding performance, Cheng was named the secondary’s Most Outstanding Player of the tournament aside from bagging the best setter and MVP awards.

Two other teammates were named in the Mythical First Team with Tan winning best attacker trophy and Ricca Jane Enclona clinching the best receiver award.
