MANILA, Philippines - The country’s fastest cars vie for the titles at stake in the kickoff of the 2009 Philippine Drag Racing Championship-Northern Series Saturday at the Clark International Speedway.
Fresh from a milestone feat, defending champion Jonathan Tiu starts his campaign for an unprecedented seventh straight crown in this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by San Miguel Corp., Yokohama Tires, Pilipinas Shell, San Miguel Coffee, Pagcor, Aeromed, Stoplight TV and Hastings Motor Corporation.
Out to spoil his drive are the V8 American muscle cars and consistent tough rivals David Lim of DGL Motorsports, Vanni Garcia of W. Autosports-Vannitec, H3 Motorsports top gun Pepi Santos and Blanche Racing’s Ed Christian Go in the Quick 8 class.
But fans and spectators will be more interested to see Tiu shatter his very own existing Clark International Speedway all-time fastest quarter-mile record of 9.223 seconds.
