Unbeaten Imus enters Shakey's GVL quarterfinals
MANILA, Philippines - Unbeaten Imus Institute pulled off two victories in varying fashions, repulsing UP Integrated School and beating St. Mary’s College to advance to the quarterfinal round of the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League over the weekend.
The Imus Institute spikers fought back from a set down to defeat the Diliman-based tossers, 23-25, 25-14, 25-19, then trounced St. Mary’s College, 25-18, 25-9, to extend their win run to six for a spot in the quarters.
UPIS also bowed to Grace Christian HS, 25-15, 25-17, and to Angelicum, 20-25, 25-18, 25-18.
In Division A-Bracket C, San Antonio de Padua clobbered Notre Dame of Greater Manila, 25-7, 25-10, for its second consecutive win. SADP’s Giselle Sy and Katrine Magsumbol combined for 28 points with 10 kills.
In other games, Holy Infant Montessori defeated Diliman Preparatory School, 25-13, 25-14, while St. James Academy beat OB Montessori, 25-14, 25-14. Angeles University Foundation won over University of Perpetual Help-Laguna, 23-25, 25-22, 25-16.
