MANILA, Philippines - The University of the East starts celebrations of its 63rd founding anniversary with the UE Fun Run 2009 slated Sunday, at 5 p.m., at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
The run is part of UE’s nine-day program of activities under the theme “Remembering, Celebrating, Envisioning”.
Distinguished UE alumnus Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, as he has done in previous UE anniversary fun runs, has confirmed participation in the opening event as special guest to help promote a healthy lifestyle and physical fitness.
The UE Fun Run 2009, which will be highlighted with a street-dance-parade titled “Pugay Silangan” featuring the UE Silanganan Dance Troupe, will be participated in by UE officials, management and rank-and-file employees, faculty members, athletes, students and alumni.
At stake are cash prizes for the top three male and female runners from each group of UE students, faculty members, and management/rank-and-file employees – totaling 18 winners in all.
