Ateneo, La Salle vie in URCC tilt

MANILA, Philippines - Ateneo and La Salle bring their rivalry to the amateur side of mixed martial arts (MMA) as they see action in the Colt 45 Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) University Challenge 2009 at the A. Venue Events Hall in Makati.

Players of both schools are expected to bring their A-game when they clash against each other on Sept. 12.

“It’s already a given that each time La Salle and Ateneo go out and play against each other, they (athletes) always give their 100 percent,” said URCC founder and president Alvin Aguilar. “They always fight for the bragging rights, so we expect an exciting tournament.”

Out to spoil the expected La Salle-Ateneo rivalry are University of the Philippines, San Beda College and Mapua, which boast of a pool of talented fighters. Also taking part in the event presented by Colt 45 and backed by Alaxan FR & E-Games are College of St. Benilde, Letran. STI, San Sebastian.

The organizing URCC, however, stressed that while the participants are students from various colleges and universities in metropolis, they will not represent their schools in the competition but their respective clubs.
