Crocs races attract 2,000 runners
MANILA, Philippines - A huge field of 2,000 is expected to see action in the Crocs Prepair To Run, which fires off Sept. 13 at SM Mall of Asia grounds in Pasay City and offers P50,000 in cash prizes and fabulous raffle items, including a Samsung LCD.
The registry continues to swell two weeks into the event, put up by Crocs, Inc., with All Condition Gear Philippines, Inc. (ACGPI), the exclusive distributor of crocstm in the country, which features competitions in the 3K, 5K and 10K categories among race enthusiasts, running club members and weekend runners
“It’s going to be fun and exciting. It’s our way of promoting the Crocs brand and at the same time, encouraging people to have a healthy lifestyle,” said Crocs Inc. vice-president Franco Limjuco in the PSA Forum Tuesday at the Shakey’s UN Avenue branch.
Joining Limjuco in the sessions supported by Outlast Battery, Shakey’s, Accel and Pagcor were Roselle Cristobal, manager, All Condition Gear Phils (ACGPI), the exclusive distributor of Crocstm in the Philippines, and ACGPI running coach Rio Dela Cruz.
Registration is ongoing at various Crocs concept stores in Bonifacio High Street, SM MOA, SM Megamall, Promenade, Greenhills, Gateway, Cubao, Alabang Town Center, Greenbelt 5 and Trinoma. A buyer of pair of Crocs will also get a free entry to the event, held to promote physical fitness and healthy lifestyle among kids, youth, and adults as well as test the participants’ strength and endurance.
The Crocs brand also encourages Filipinos to support running as a sport with the Crocs Prepair(tm) Collection, which is ergonomically designed to reduce muscle fatigue and relieve muscle strain and tension on the musculoskeletal system. There will be a free breakfast for participants after the race, sponsored by Alaska as well as Rogue and Action & Fitness magazines and a finisher T-shirt. Rudy Project Sunglasses will be given away to the winners and discount vouchers to all runners. Toby’s will raffle off 10 pcs of gift certificate for P 1,000 each.
A Samsung LCD TV, Crocs gift certificates and freebies will also be up for grabs in the fun run, backed by Summit, 100+ , Alaska, Rudy Project, Solar Sports, The Philippine STAR, Philstar.com, Action & Fitness Sports Magazine and Rogue Magazine.
The event is also held to raise funds for WE International Philippines, an organization that gives medical, educational and other assistance to the children of Smokey Mountain. A registered NGO (non-government organization, WEIP also raises awareness and provides sustainable ways to respond to poverty in the country by facilitating economic development through education projects, micro lending, and sustainable business development services.
To complement the fun run event, sanctioned by the Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association (PATAFA), and provide a running workshop and training for the participants, a running Clinic will be held on Sept. 6 at the Bonifacio High Street grounds at Fort Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
