Sam Unera, 56

-

MANILA, Philippines - The remains of former PBA player agent Sam Unera will be laid to rest today at the Serenity Memorial Park along Susano-Rainbow Road in Urduja, Caloocan City.

A Requiem Mass will be held at 12 noon before the funeral entourage leaves St. Peter Memorial Chapels where Unera’a remains lay in state upon arrival Friday night from California.

The Philadelphia-based Unera, who brought to the country several topnotch imports, including the explosive Billy “The Black Superman” Bates, who played for Crispa and Barangay Ginebra, died of diabetes coma in a hospital in Fountain Valley in California last Aug. 17. He was 56.

A television cameraman covering the early years of the PBA, Unera migrated in the 70s to the US where he established a firm that supplied US-based cagers for the PBA.
