Buncio heads locals bid in Nations Cup

MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion and Mandaluyong pride Maico Buncio of Elf Moto Oil-YRS Racing bagged a championship trophy, two runner-up honors and a third place finish recently in the fourth leg of the 2009 Magnolia Health Tea Philippine Underbone King Championships at the Kart Trak of the Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

For his feat, Buncio, 20, was chosen by the National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association, together with Bryan Ortile, to spearhead the NAMSSA-RP Team competing in the 2009 FIM-UAM Asia Nations Cup Race set Aug. 28-30 at the Sportland SUGO in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.

He will also be the featured young sports achiever at the Olympic World of the Trinoma Mall tomorrow, at 5 p.m., in Quezon City.

For now, he’s looking forward to clinching two diadems at the end of the series where he currently leads the title race in both the 130cc Open and the premiere 150cc Open categories with the huge support of Elf-Moto Motorcycle Oils, NAMSSA, Motoworld, Denso Spark Plugs, Dunlop Japan, BPI Family Savings Bank, GS Battery, Accel Sportswear, Fast Lane and YRS Motorcycle Modifications.
