Postmasters General Cup set

MANILA, Philippines - The Postmaster General’s Cup golf tournament will unfold on Aug. 19 at the Intramuros golf course in Manila to generate funds tfor the Postal Museum project.

Transportation Secretary Leandro Mendoza will be the guest of honor and will hit the ceremonial ball.

The Philippine Postal Museum is envisioned to become the country’s premier depository of valuable artifacts, cultural items and important materials related to the history of one of the oldest postal services in Asia.

The major sponsors which have signed up so far are Pagcor, PostalBank, SSS, ClubCar, Philippine Tourism Authority and PCSO. Several hole sponsors have also made their commitment which include Twenty Plus Inc., Land Bank, Burger King and San Miguel Corporation.

The PTA and the Department of Tourism have also expressed support for the project.

The Pagcor Golf Club will assist PhilPost in the organization and management of the tournament. Tee off time is from 6:30-8:30 a.m. and system 36 will be used for the scoring.

Located at the historic Manila Central Post Office Building, the museum will be an added attraction for local and international tourists who frequently flock to Manila’s National Museum, the National Library, the historic walls of Intramuros, Fort Santiago, Jose Rizal Park, Manila Oceanarium, Manila Historical and Heritage Museum, San Agustin Church, Manila Cathedral, Manila Hotel, Manila City Hall and the Metropolitan Theater.
