MANILA, Philippines - Mia Legaspi clinched her second crown in as many weeks, winning the girls’ 10 years division of the US Kids World Championship in another runaway fashion in Pinehurst, North Carolina recently.
Barely a week after topping the 10-11 years category of the Optimist International at the PGA National Resort and Spa in West Palm Beach Florida by six strokes, Legaspi dominated her rivals with rounds of 75, 65 and 75.
Mia won by seven strokes over He Muin of China for her third straight title in the annual event that drew 64 participants from all over the world.
The fifth grader at the St. Paul’s College in Pasig also ruled the 8 years and 9 years brackets the past two years on top of her biggest victory yet, the 7-8 years plum in the 2006 Callaway Junior World in San Diego, California.
Also in the US Kids, Bernice Olivarez-Ilas finished sixth in the 6 years and under with her 39-38-37 effort.
