Lourdes takes opener in SBP-Passerelle tiff

-

MANILA, Philippines - Henri Lorenzo Subido exploded for 25 points, including 10 markers in two overtime periods, as Lourdes School of Mandaluyong turned back San Benildo Integrated School, 67-60, in Group A of the premier Passerelle division of the Milo-sponsored SBP-Passerelle twin basketball tournaments at the Xavier School gym.

Subido almost singlehandedly carried his team on his back, getting just ample support from the rest of the Lourdes crew to gain their first victory shortly after the short ceremony graced by rising basketball star Chris Tiu, a member of the national basketball team who is among the top graduates of Best Center (Basketball Efficiency and Scientific Training Center), which organized the twin tournaments. Lester Castillo, Milo Sports and PR executive and also a Best Center graduate, also attended the event.

Not even the prolific trio of Klrcsten and Jeric Cabigting and Jayvee Nocon could stop Subido’s charge despite combining for 45 points of San Benildo’s output. Klrcsten had 19, Jeric 14 and Nocon 12 for San Benildo but they were not enough to keep their team afloat after a 45-all ending in regulation and a 55-55 tally in the first overtime.

It was an all-Subido show in the second overtime, where he poured in six more points for Lourdes’ win.

In other Passerelle matches, it was: Group A-Antipolo Lady of Lourdes School over Marist, 62-47; Group B-Xavier over Don Bosco Mandaluyong, 97-24; and Notre Dame over Lourdes QC, 49-46; Group C-La Salle Greenhills A over University of the East, 110-52; and School of St. Anthony over Malate Catholic School, 45-33; and Group D-San Beda over La Salle Santiago Zobel-69-53.
