Petron volley 3rd leg begins

MANILA, Philippines - Ateneo standouts Asia Urquico and Jessica Morado are back to try their luck in the third leg of the 2009 Petron Ladies’ beach volleyball tournament at the Purok Marcela Resort in Lingayen, Pangasinan.

After making it to the semifinals two years ago when it was held at the Clearwater Country Club in Clark Field, Pampanga, Urquico and Morado will try to go all the way this time around, but with different partners in tow.

Now a biology junior, Urquico teams up with Pepi Sison, while Morado will have Sharah So as her partner in this two-day event backed by Petron, Speedo and Mikasa, along with the support of Pagcor, Coca-Cola, Victory Liner, Tanduay Rhum, Orica Phils., Inc. Dragon Fireworks, Inc. Mandarin Chemicals, Trust Trade Inc. and Izumo Builders, Inc.

Opposition is expected to come from April Almaden, a 5-foot-8 De La Salle University-Dasmariñas communications art senior, who reached the semifinals of the Battle of Champions in November last year when the tournament was held in Puerto Princesa for the first time. Almaden had Precious Grace Abano as her teammate then.
