Orchard to stage Samsung Am tilt

MANILA, Philippines - The two championship courses of the world-renowned Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite will serve as the venue for the 2009 Samsung Amateur Tour on July 27-28.

About a hundred players are expected to see action in the 36-hole tourney the first round of which will be played at the Player course on Monday before moving to the Palmer course for the final round on Tuesday.

The two-leg Am Tour is part of Samsung’s golf program this year after its sponsorship of the Philippine Amateurs two months ago at Eastridge where Mark Fernando (men’s), Dottie Ardina (ladies) and Richie Garcia (seniors) emerged the winners.

After the second leg of the Samsung Amateur Tour at Camp John Hay in Baguio on Aug. 25-26, the Samsung Interscholastics featuring the country’s junior players will be staged on Sept. 15-17.

At stake for the five-division winners in the men’s competition and three in the girls side are trophies and top-of-the-line Samsung mobile phones.
