MANILA, Philippines - Eduard “The Landslide” Folayang tries to enhance his reputation as one of Asia’s top mixed martial arts practitioners when he battles Guam’s AJ “The Head Ache” Aguon in their “Superfight” in the Colt 45 URCC (Universal Reality Combat Championship) XIV Aggression today at the A. Venue Events Hall in Makati.
A two-time SEA Games champion in wushu (sanshou, 70kgs), Folayang enjoys a slight edge over Aguon owing to his high-altitude training in Baguio not to mention his impressive wins in previous URCC events.
“I trained for seven weeks in Baguio, it’s a high-altitude training so I’m ready for him,” said the 5-foot-8 Folayang, who is out to protect his unbeaten record.
Folayang, who also won a silver medal in the Doha Asian Games three years ago, boasts of four wins, including a sensational TKO win over Marianas’ Elite Jerome Norita in Saipan four months ago.
Known for his superior takedown and striking, Folayang needed only 52 seconds to beat his rival.
URCC founder and president Alvin Aguilar said crowd support is expected to give Folayang the extra motivation in the event presented by Colt 45 Premium Strong Beer.
Folayang, however, can’t take Aguon lightly as the 5-foot-10 fighter of Spike 22 is determined to end the Filipino’s reign in the tournament also supported by Alaxan FR & E-games with Solar Sports, CS/9, Magic 89.9, 99.5 RT, Rogue Magazine as media partners
