Doblada, Enriquez complete 1-2 finish

ROSARIO, Batangas, Philippines  – Paul Mark Doblada and John Lery Enriquez made another 1-2 finish in the third leg of the 2009 Magnolia Health Tea Philippine Underbone King Championships at the Batangas Racing Circuit here recently.

Doblada swept both the pre-final and final races to keep his solo leadership with 144 points in both the 115cc Open and 115cc Sports Production classes of the event sanctioned by the National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (NAMSSA) and sponsored by San Miguel Corporation, Magnolia Health Tea, Aeromed, Inside Racing and Pagcor.

He clocked 12 minutes and 47.333 second to prevail by just 0.031 seconds over Enriquez who wound up third in the pre-final but bounced back for the runner-up finish in the final race to wrest overall second place in both the 115cc Open and 115cc Sports Producation classes with identical 112 points.

Honda also achieved a respectable feat behind Bryan “Spark” Ortile who stole second in the pre-final race before ending third in the 115cc Open division while teammate Herbert Lopez made it fifth.

But it was defending Superbikes champion Maico Buncio of Elf Moto Oil-GS Battery-YRS Racing who emerged the winningest rider with three titles and a runner-up finish.

The 20-year-old Buncio reset the track record to 1:38.365, shattering his previous mark of 1:38.587 as he swept both races in the 2009 BRC Superbikes Series to firm up his bid for a three-peat crown with 147 points.

Buncio likewise ruled the 130cc Open class with a time of 13:05.858 to turn back runner-up Anthony Roman.
