Mayor tops executives chess 6th leg

MANILA, Philippines - Jenny Mayor held top seed NM Ronald Llavanes to a draw in the final round to rule the sixth leg of the Philweb Corp.-Human Plus national executive active chess at the Department of Agrarian Reform in Quezon City over the weekend.

Mayor, a RP sixth-time Philippine executive grand prix champion, wound up with five points on four wins and two draws as he topped the six-round tournament which drew a total of 17 players, including 13 national masters. He won P5,000.

Meanwhile, Emil Chua captured the Group B title with 5.5 points, a full-point ahead of Cliburn Orbe, Albert Rivera, Stephen Manzanero, Ervil Villa and Ramel Ramilla.

Four more legs are on tap in the circuit with the top eight players from Groups A and B advancing to the grand finals slated late this year.
