Globe, Ayala Land set 'Run for Home'

-

MANILA, Philippines - Globe Telecoms and Ayala Land Inc. (SLI) will hold the “Run for Home” half marathon on Sunday at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity’s project.

The event is part of the Pasig River clean up project to complete 800 houses for families resettled from the Estero de Paco, a tributary of the Pasig River.

Tapping into the increasing popularity of running among health-conscious Filipinos, the event will have 3-km, 5-km., 10-km., and 21-km. runs, with the 21-km. half marathon looping Kalayaan Ave., Buendia Ext., Paseo de Roxas and Ayala Avenue before heading back to finish in Bonifacio.

The run will use for the first time disposable electronic timing chips to track running times of all participants. Runners will also be able to review and analyze their runs on the Globe website four days after the run, and also be able to access and download, free of charge, photos of themselves during the run taken by a team of photographers stationed throughout the race route.

“Globe’s Run for Home will give Filipino runners a new and different experience as we make use of high-tech electronic timing chips which have never before been used in the country,” said Ferdz dela Cruz, head of consumer sales and after sales of Globe.

Globe has pledged to donate P1 million to Habitat’s BayaniJuan sa Calauan, the main resettlement site for families that used to live along the Pasig River and its tributaries.

Interested participants can register online at www.globe.com.ph/runforhome, or at Globe business centers and Fitness First branches.
