Valley scores second win in Fed League

-

MANILA, Philippines - Valley became the first team to post a second win after upending defending champion Riviera, 3.5-1.5, at the resumption of the Men’s Federation Golf League matches in various courses over the weekend.

The tandems of Chino Raymundo-Chito Laureta (aggregate) and Boni Sumbilla-Richard Kim (greensomes) saved the day for Valley with 1-up victories in their respective matches while Elmer de Leon-Zaldy Villa ensured the win by taking the best-ball point.

Counting their 3-2 mastery of Orchard, Valley seized the top spot in Group I at 4 points, just a point ahead of Royal Northwoods, which routed Eastridge, 4-1, at home.

Sherwood Hills, Forest Hills and Wack Wack also turned back separate opponents to boost their own bids.

Wack Wack broke into the win column after a pair of losses, posting a morale-boosting 4-1 demolition of Orchard in an away game with Gary Uy-Sunny Sun, Ed Marcelo-Buddy Velayo, Matthew Manotoc-Elphege Wong and John Gobing-Hubert Lim earning the wins.

Sherwood had a 3.5-1.5 result against Canlubang as Vince Lauron-Bong Arguelles, Florene delos Santos-Luis Oh and Tim Allen-Justin Limjap came through with impressive triumphs that didn’t reach past the 15th hole.

Brian Kim eagled the 18th from outside the green to salvage a draw for Forest Hills in scramble and highlight a 3.5-1.5 stunner in an away game at Southwoods.

Teams switch courses this weekend with Valley at Riviera, Orchard at Wack Wack, Northwoods at Eastridge, Southwoods at Forest Hills, Sherwood Hills at Canlubang and Sta. Elena at Highlands.
