SAN DIEGO – Rupert Saragoza and Daniella Uy led their respective divisions after carding contrasting rounds in the San Diego Junior Masters golf tournament at the Carlton Oaks course here on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila).
Saragoza fired a three-under-par 69 to share the lead in boys 11-12 division with Tyler Moore, four strokes ahead of compatriots AR Ramos and Miggy Yee.
A day after Miguel Tabuena narrowly missed posting a big victory here when he lost in a playoff, Daniella Uy and Princess Superal boosted the chances of Team Philippines when they occupied the top two positions in girls 11-12 years. Uy shot a 73 while Superal had a 74.
Bernice Olivares-Ilas was two behind in the girls 7-8 after a nine-hole score of 37, Alex Trinos was three back after a 36 in the boys 7-8 while Mia Legaspi (36) was four behind in the girls 9-10.
The RP kids are using this event as a final tuneup for their Callaway Junior World campaign next week.
