MANILA, Philippines - Sean Terrence Zamora, Hilario Davide IV, Paula Cayanan and Ana Nicole Tan bagged three gold medals each as they led the first day winners in the two-day first age group swimming competition of the Aquatic Sports Association of the Phils. (ASAP) yesterday at the Rizal memorial pool.
Zamora took the gold in the 100m free, 50m breast and 100m butterfly of the 7-8 year old category, while Davide, coached by former national swimmer Susan Papa, won the gold in the 100m free, 100m fly and 50m backstroke in the 9-10 age bracket.
Palarong Pambansa champion Gian Berino, and an age-group national team member, won two gold mdals – in the 100m free and 100 back.
In the girls side, Cayanan dominated the 7-8 group with gold medals in the 100 free, 50 breast and 100 fly.
Tan reigned in the 11-12 category with wins in the 100 free, 100 fly and 50 breast.
Other Palarong Pambansa champions – Loren Echavez from Cebu and Denjylie Cordero and Jackie Junio also won gold medals.
The swimming meet was attended by ASAP offficers – Atty. Maria Luz Arzaga-Mendoza (president), Atty. Jane Ong (vice president), former synchronized head Dr. Elizabeth Mascardo (treasurer), Cesar Espino (PRO) and Papa (secretary general).
