Suzuki rules underbone; Buncio bags four titles

-

MANILA, Philippines - Suzuki continued its rampage behind top guns Johnlery Enriquez and Paul Mark Doblada recently in the second leg of the 2009 Magnolia Health Tea Philippine Underbone King Championships at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

From a tight start, Enriquez and Doblada stood close to each other from start to finish as they bagged the 1-2 finish in the 115cc Open and 115cc Sports Production classes of this event sanctioned by the National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association and sponsored by San Miguel Corporation, Magnolia Health Tea, Aeromed, Inside Racing and Pagcor.

Enriquez wrapped up the six-lap race in 12 minutes, 42.206 seconds or just 0.526 seconds ahead of Doblada (12:42.732).

Honda bagged another respectable third place finish behind Bryan “Spark” Ortile who checked in behind Enriquez and Doblada in the 115cc Open while Niño Fabian was third in the 115cc Sports Production division.

Reigning Superbikes champ Maico Buncio of Yamaha-Elf-YRS division went home with four championship trophies.

The 20-year-old Buncio survived the tough rivalry with Glenn Aguilar of YellowCab-Ducati-Access Plus for a double victory in the 2009 BRC Superbikes Series.

The crowd roused in cheers as Aguilar grabbed the lead at the start but his knee injury soon took its toll on him as Buncio pulled ahead for the win, clocking 16:31.33 a far 9.697 seconds of Aguilar.

Clinching his third win for the season, Buncio now takes the lead in his bid for a three-peat Superbikes crown.

He likewise captured the 130cc Open over Danny Daquigan and the 150cc Open over Jaime Barcial and third placer Johnlery Enriquez.

Young Dashi Watanabe of the Watanabe Racing Team displayed much improvement as he wound up third behind Buncio and Aguilar in the BRC Superbikes Series and also copped the Superbikes Novice crown over Niño Garcia and Raniel Resuello with a time of 17:29.891.
