MANILA, Philippines – The first Rollapaluza Roller Racing rolls off today with a demonstration event starting at 4 p.m. at the Festival Mall in Alabang.
Roller racing is a test of strength and stamina using a one-wheel bike attached to custom rollers and to a clocking device. Sponsored by David’s Salon and Union Jack Tavern, roller racing is now making a comeback in the United Kingdom.
It also features actual competition and fun events and will be open to the public. Registration is at the second level of Festival Mall near the Union Jack Tavern.
Put up by the Rollapaluza Roller Racing together with David Chalton, who bought the very first franchise to Asia, the event also features former duathlete Annalisa Dysangco, triathlete Popo Remigio and cyclist Marita Lucas together with other members of the David’s Salon All-female Multi-sport team and members of other fitness clubs like Polo Tri, Fitness First, Yellow Cab, Gerry’s Grill and Bike King.
“The last two years have seen a big growth in the popularity of this unique cycling sport and we are excited at the potential of Rollapaluza Roller Racing not only in the Philippines but in other parts of Asia as well,” said Paul “Winston” Churchill who arrived here recently with partner Caspar Hughes to oversee the demo event.
