MANILA, Philippines - Recreational and competitive bowlers now have a new, modern and family-friendly venue to play north of the metropolis with the formal opening of the SM North EDSA Bowling Center in Quezon City.
Located at a growing commercial, dining and entertainment hub in Quezon City, the bowling facility inside the country’s second biggest mall features state-of-the-art facilities, including 24 computerized synthethic lanes of AMF-Puyat.
Among those who have found the playing conditions favorable are past and current national players Jeric Carrabeo, Marwin Tee, the 2005 Southeast Asian Games men’s masters gold medalist, and Benshir Layoso.
“The lane conditions are conducive to high scores. I use the bowling center regularly for practice,” Layoso, who won the 2008 RP Open men’s masters championship, said.
“We welcome the SM North Edsa Bowling Center into the family of growing sports and leisure facilities of the SM group,” Engr. Ric Camaligan, SM vice president for sports and leisure, said at the press launch of the center yesterday.
“Bowling is a sport where Filipinos have and will continue to excel. Through this center, we aim to do our share in sustaining our world-class excellence,” Camaligan said.
“At the same time, bowling is a great sport for bonding among families, relatives and friends. We offer the SM North Edsa Bowling Center as another ideal venue for fun, exciting and memorable get-togethers,” Camaligan added.
While competitive players may find the lanes at par with the best, the SM North Edsa Bowling Center, like its “cousins” in SM Cebu and SM Mall of Asia, is also a great site for bonding for sports-minded families, relatives and friends.
Largely responsible for this comfortable and feel-at-home ambience is the famed and multi-awarded Architects EAT of Australia, which designed the center’s interiors, just like the SM MOA Bowling Center.
