MANILA, Philippines – Villamor hopes to keep the winning trend of the clubs hosting the Women’s Golf Association of the Phils. circuit as it stages the third leg on June 15-16 at the Villamor Golf Club in Pasay City.
Alabang won on its turf when the 2009 season, featuring 14 of the leading golf clubs in the country, kicked off last April while Forest Hills reigned supreme when it hosted the series’ second leg last month.
The Villamor golfers hope to use their familiarity with the flat but long layout to get back into the thick of things after a pair of mediocre stints in the first two legs of the eight-stage circuit.
The organizing WGAP is holding the event for two days in anticipation of a big number of participants with Alabang, Forest Hills, Sta. Elena, Tagaytay Highlands and Canlubang tipped to crowd the host for top honors both in team and individual competitions.
The Alabang golfers topped two categories and finished runner-up at home and came through with a pair of second-place finishes and a third place effort at Forest Hills, making them the team to watch for the rest of the season.
Canlubang, the defending overall champion, is also fancied to make its move this time along with the other teams in the fold, including Valley Golf, Manila Golf, Riviera, Manila Southwoods, Orchard, Phil. Navy and Aguinaldo.
The event features competitions in Classes A, B and C with a maximum of 10 players for each squad in each division. The aggregate best four scores under the Modified Stableford system will count for the team’s score.
