King, Del Rosario pace all-events in RP Open
MANILA, Philippines – National pool players Chester King and Liza del Rosario continued to shine Tuesday night and showed the way in the Class O men’s and women’s all-events of the 38th Philippine International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships at the Paeng’s Midtown in Malate.
The all-events gold medalist in last year’s Asian Championships, King tallied an aggregate of 1,484 from his singles (686), doubles (403) and trios (396) to pace the men’s all-events of the tournament sponsored by University of Perpetual Help System, Department of Tourism, Amway Philippines and the Philippine Sports Commission.
TBAM-PRIMA-RP teammate Biboy Rivera, the 2006 world men’s championship, was running second and 18 pins behind with a pooled output of 1,466 while MTBA-RP’s Raoul Miranda was third at 1,424 in the event sanctioned by the Philippine Bowling Congress.
Del Rosario, a trios gold medalist in the 2003 women’s world championship, carded a 1,438 total output from the trios (657), doubles (406) and trios (375) and enjoyed a 54-pin lead over second running teammate Krizziah Taborah, the defending women’s masters champion, who shot a 1,374.
Just 12 pins behind and in third place was Kim Lao (1,362) in the two-week championship also supported by Chowking, Colgate-Palmolive, Pear Garden & Pearl Lane Hotels, Paeng’s Midtown Bowl and Pan Pacific Manila, the tournament’s official hotel.
National pool members John Co and Jonas Baltasar pooled together an 867 and were on top of the men’s Class O doubles contests.
