MANILA, Philippines - Rizal Technological University of Mandaluyong City continued dominating the opposition as it claimed its fifth victim in Montalban of Rizal, 10-0, yesterday to formally clinch the first seminal round berth in Group B of the men’s division play of the Cebuana Lhuillier National Open softball championships at the Rosario Sports Complex in Pasig City.
Air Force matched the Blue Thunders’ clean 5-0 win-loss card in a 7-2 triumph over Dasmariñas of Cavite to also earn a place in the crossover Final Four in Group A.
Meanwhile, The Pampanga Legends, a team made up mostly of present and former Philippine Blu Girls, surprised defending champion University of the Philippines-I, 7-0, in a win that might complicate the race for the semifinal slots in Group B of the women’s division being played at the Sto. Niño fields in nearby Marikina City.
The Legends led the group with a superior 3-1 record, followed closely by the Lady Maroons and the Lady Falcons of Adamson University-Manaila.
Other completed results as of noon yesterday saw Antipolo City beating La Salle-Lipa, 4-2, in the men’s Group A play and Antipolo-I taking the measure of Calamba City of Laguna in Group B encounter.
