Thais head field in international jungolf

MANILA, Philippines -Thailand, Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan and Malaysia gear up for the ninth Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office Philippine International Junior Golf Championships which starts tomorrow at Canlubang Golf and Country Club in Laguna.

The Thais arrived yesterday while the five other countries are expected to follow suit in time for their practice at the 6,305-meter layout designed by Robert Trent Jones.

Meanwhile, the world-class Cantada Sports Center serves as host to the more than 75 young players, including local bets, for the duration of the event organized by the Philippine Junior Golf Federation and backed by Lucio “Bong” Tan Jr. of Macro Asia, Wallem Phils. Shipping, Toyota Balintawak, Toyota Otis, New Divisoria Mall, Rescue Derm and Gilberto Duavit.

Events on tap are Class A (15-17), Class B (13-14), Class C (11-12) and Class D (10-and-under) for boys and girls with a special division in the 18-21 age group.
