Rains wash out baseball games
MANILA, Philippines - Rains rendered Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium unplayable, forcing the organizing Community Sports Inc. to postpone its scheduled games pitting Cebu and Dumaguete as well as two Junior Baseball Philippines (JBP) matches yesterday.
The Dolphins, in third with a 4-4 mark, need to win over the Uni-Bikers to stay in the hunt for the outright semifinal berth.
The Cebu-Dumaguete clash along with the junior games between Cagayan against Quezon City and Alabang against Marikina will instead be played on June 6.
Meanwhile, the league suspended all 24 members of the national team for their failure to suit up for their respective squads last week.
In a memo released to the players, the league sacked the players in response to their reported boycott of the games held last May 24 and 25.
“In view of preserving the integrity and stability of the league and all stakeholders and the general public, we have decided that the players are indefinitely suspended from participating in the games of Baseball Philippines effective immediately,” the memo said.
