Cavite blanks RTU in national softball Open

-

MANILA, Philippines - Cavite City blanked Rizal Technological University-2, 7-0, to notch its second straight victory in women’s play of the Cebuana Lhuillier National Open Softball Championships at the Sto. Niño field in Markina City yesterday.

The Caviteñas, who also routed the UP side, 25-1, in only three innings in a rain-delayed match last Saturday, sustained their fine form with Syrel Ramos twirling a two-hit job while drawing 11 hits from her teammates.

Ramos, many-time member of the Philippine Blu Girls and the 2007 Southeast Asian Games best pitcher, struck out five of the 11 RTU batters she faced in a near-flawless stint on the mound.

Catcher Lovelyn Maganda and Karen Aribal and Marissa dela Cruz and Elma Parohinog, on the other hand, feasted on three RTU pitchers to fashion out the one-sided win for the lead in Group A.
