LS-Ocean Fresh wins

MANILA, Philippines - Lyceum-Showa-Ocean Fresh defeated University of Santo Tomas-Dickies, 71-67, in the battle between unbeaten teams in the 2009 MBL Open basketball championship at the Lyceum gym in Intramuros.

Former national team standout Jerwin Gaco scattered 11 points to lead the Seafood Experts to their second straight win in the tournament sponsored by Dickies Underwear, PRC Couriers and Big Boy Restaurant.

Andy Larong, Nat Cruz and Pol Santiago scored 10 points apiece for Lyceum-Showa, which debuted with a hard-earned 91-85 win over National Interclub titlist Wang’s Ballclub-Batch 96 last May 8.

Darrel Green carried the fight for UST-Dickies with 16 points.
