Villaber fires 73, trails by 10

-

MANILA, Philippines – Peter Villaber carded a gutsy one-over par 73 but stood 10 strokes off Thai Thanyayon Khrongpa as Dante Becierra tumbled down with an atrocious five-over par 77 in the second round of the 107 Malaysian Amateur Open Golf Championship at the Sarawak Golf Club in Kuching, Malaysia late Friday.

Villaber, who turned in a 74 in the first round of Malaysia’s premier amateur golfing event, made crucial putts for pars in the closing holes to salvage that 73 for a 147 and a share of 11th place with 10 others, including compatriot Alvin Engino, who shot a 74.
