Pharex, Army notch 2nd wins

MANILA, Philippines – Pharex and Team Army of Gen. Charlie Holganza downed their respective rivals to stay unbeaten in the MBT Women’s Basketball League held recently at the Metro gym in Mandaluyong.

The Piao Fedillaga-mentored Pharex outplayed FEU-Burlington, 67-56, while “Charlie’s Angels’ of Holganza edged UST-LWUA, 85-77, for their second straight win in the tournament sponsored by Burlington, Express Bank, Wilson, Careline Pilipinas, Ever Bilena and Molten, the official ball of MBT.

Adamson-Express Bank also kept abreast with Team Army and Pharex by downing College of St. Benilde, 93-75, in the tournament organized by MBT under commissioner Nilo Fernandez and supported by LWUA chairman, Prospero “Butch” Pichay and Gov. Jun Ynares III of Rizal.

In other games, Lyceum-H2Club outlasted University of Perpetual Help, 85-80; National University defeated PCCr-Wilson, 105-91; and PMI-H2Club drubbed Blue Thunder, 85-63.

Sai Saddora and Marsha Faustino starred for Pharex with 24 and 16 points, respectively, while Dulce Bombeo and Legiel Orencio led Army’s assault by combining for 37 points.
