MANILA, Philippines - Thirty-six qualifiers representing 12 exclusive clubs in Luzon clash for the title in the grand finals of the Mizuno Scramble Classic today at the Splendido Taal Golf and Country Club.
The 36 two-man squads will play one of golf’s most challenging team formats – the scramble – in vying for three division titles according to different handicap levels.
Aside from the bragging rights as national titlists, the three division champions in today’s 18-hole culmination of a seven-month elimination series will enjoy an all-expense-paid trip to Japan this coming November.
Part of the Japan vacation will be the opportunity to watch the Mizuno LPGA Classic where the best women players in the world will see action.
It will be a fitting prize for the three teams left standing after a seven-month competition that started October last year with more than a thousand entries.
The finalists will also get a shot at special raffle prizes prepared by the organizing Master Sports, Inc., local distributor of Mizuno sports products.
To be contested are Division I for teams whose two members have a combined handicap average of 4 to 9.9, Division II for those in the 10 to 16.9 range and Division III for those in the 17-36 bracket.
