Manila Cup football kicks off at MPC

MANILA, Philippines - The Manila Cup football tournament opens its seventh season tomorrow with around 40 teams competing at the Manila Polo Club.

The tournament, organized by Pure Play Sports Management in cooperation with Creative Carnival Inc., Gobott Inc., and the Titans Football Club, features the age group division and the men’s and women’s Open categories.

Nineteen teams are competing in the men’s event, eight are vying for top honors in women’s play while 12 clubs are participating in the age group side.

Competing in the men’s class of the tournament sponsored by McDonald’s, 100 Plus, Planet Sports (Lotto), with Flash Manila, Rogue Magazine, and ABS- CBN (Balls) as media partners, are the All Stars FC, Manila Alliance FC, Korea FC, Lufthansa FC, India FC, Neo-horizonians FC , Blugards FC,.MSA FC, Alabang International FC, Ramrod FC, Masbate FC, UST Nursing GC, Average Joes, Colegio San Agustin (2 teams), Laos (2 teams), UST-MED and HSBC.

The women’s side is composed of Ateneo A and B, Manila Football Alliance FC, UST Nursing, Halo FC, HSBC, MPL All Stars, and the MSA FC while the youth teams come from Manila S.A., Alabang United FC, Army/Victory , CSA Makati, Caritas FC, Quezon City Science High School, Dana Team , Sta. Rosa FC., Athletico Diliman, Pacita FC, Corinthians FC and Xavier School.

The different age group categories of the tourney which is affiliated with the Manila Soccer Academy, Titans Football Club, and Homeless World Cup, are five-and-under, born in or before 2000, in or before 1998, 1996, 1994 and 1992.
