Beach Hotshots cops RORO plum

MANILA, Philippines – Team Beach Hotshots composed of TV host Reema Chanco and cousins Ira Dy and Jet Tan from Pangasinan ruled the final leg of the “Ready, Set, RORO!” DBP Interisland Race - Year 4 to win the P1-million grand prize after six gruelling days of travelling across the country.

Team Beach Hotshots arrived first at the final pit stop at the DBP Head Office in Makati City after travelling all the way to Manila from Lian, Batangas.

Team Aquaholics composed of teen star Josef Elizalde and photographers Trisha Halili and Lea Aspe finished second to win P500,000 while Team Wave Catchers of actor Danilo Barrios and Cebuano couple Mike Gatchalian and Tine Naranjo arrived third to win P300,000.

The final challenge of the race saw the teams racing via public transport from Matabungkay Beach to Luneta Park, where they identified provinces from this year’s race route on the floating relief map.

Despite ruling four challenges, Team Fun Explorers composed of teen actress Nicole Uysiuseng and brothers JP and Anton Sarmento ended up fifth overall, while Team Summer Breezers composed of TV actor Thou Reyes and friends Joei Calixto and Chal Lontoc-Del Rosario was fourth.

DBP president and chief executive officer Reynaldo David said this year’s race aims to show how the RORO has benefited domestic trade and tourism by providing cheap and efficient transportation for small and medium entrepreneurs and tourists.
