Jr. Red Warriors sweep elims

-

MANILA, Philippines - The vastly improved University of the East Junior Red Warriors showed their dominance with imposing victories in the elimination round to advance to the semifinals of the Filoil Flying V MVP Cup junior basketball tournament last week.

The Jr. Red Warriors blasted the San Beda Red Cubs, 65-53, overwhelmed the San Sebastian Staglets, 90-45, and snared the UST Baby Tigers, 63-51, behind consistent top scorer Kevin Fernandez.

Supporting Fernandez are Christian Canicula, JC Duncil, Isiah Banawa and Paul Jerome Carpio.

It is a triple triumph for winning coach Mark Herrera, who also calls the shots for the Quezon City-Batang Talk N Text and Alaska teams which topped the elimination round with 3-0 slates in Group A and B of the ongoing Batang PBA basketball tournament.

Herrera is head coach of the national Under-13 training pool.
